Pocketbooks and Shoes
As an artist for the past 50 years, my focus and inspiration come from painting and drawing human figures. My aim is to capture the emotions people express while posing and to be able to express those feelings on canvas.
I also paint still life and landscapes, applying similar techniques by capturing the energy in the subjects. While painting, emphasis is placed on subtle tonal delineation.
This year due to the pandemic, I had to rethink subjects to paint since socially distancing with models in my studio was not possible. Due to the abundance of shoes and pocketbooks my wife and daughter own, I decided to use them as subjects. My approach is the same. I emphasize composition and light. At this time, I have completed 11. They can be viewed in the new Pocketbook and Shoes section of my website here.
